SARC Spring Registration!

Date: Saturday, January 21st

Time: 10AM-1PM

Location: Saint Andrew Family Center

Please click here Ronin Racing to complete the online registration. While some laptops will be available, it does save time to do this portion in advance. That way, you can simply spend time catching up with friends, purchasing uni's or spiritwear, regale your coaches with how many points you earned during the break and pay fees. Should you have any questions, concerns or problems with the Ronin process, please contact me at one of the places below. I'll be happy to help you. We're looking forward to a great Spring sprint season!!

Weekly Notes

Happy New Year to all!

Holidays are full of surprises and this season, SARC has its own as there are various changes to positions on both the Board and Coaching staff.

We have, in essence, lost three coaches for this Spring Season: Richard Rhodes, Varsity Men's Assistant Coach, James Black, Varsity Men's Lead Coach and Ford Heiner, Varsity Women's Assistant Coach. Richard is leaving to pursue a nursing degree in upstate New York while James will be focusing attention on personal and professional concerns. Ford, having performed in an exemplary capacity in her primary job, has earned additional responsibilities which will preclude her from being a full time SARC coach.

To fill these openings, we are proud to announce the new lead Varsity Men's coach is Tom Jennings, who ran the Sculling Program last fall and is currently overseeing the Men's winter training. Assisting him will be Peter Smith, who will move over from the Novice Men's squad. Our coaching director, Paul Merrion, will assume a dual role of Lead Coach for Novice Men along with the coaching director administrative duties as regards to regattas. Richmond Jones will be the Assistant Coach for the Novice Men. We are actively searching for a Sculling Program Lead Coach with several potential candidates.

Bridget Fowler will remain our Varsity Women's Lead Coach. The Varsity Women's Assistant Coach is also a position for which we are actively searching a replacement.

With respect to the Executive Board, senioritis has hit in the most peculiar of places. Norm Sterling, our President, must step down as his son Robbie wishes to fully embrace his final semester as a senior in high school. Ellen Kish will assume his duties, although her southern accent cannot begin to rival Norm's Irish brogue. Deborah Williams, our Treasurer, has decided to direct her focus on her son Mitchell's final semester as a senior in high school. Charlie Brown has graciously stepped up to the plate and will fill those shoes, although Charlie (bless his heart...) is simply not the southern magnolia Deborah is.

With these movements on the SARC chess board, the following four Director positions are vacated and ready for a volunteer to step in now:

  • Assistant Treasurer,
  • Registration,
  • Community Service
  • and Public Relations.

We will be holding our normal elections for the board in spring, so if you're not ready at this time, these and other opportunities are coming along! Should you or someone you know wish to be a part of a simply marvelous director experience in your child's club, please do not hesitate to call me directly to discuss further. I would love to hear from you.

As a final note-the John Hunter Regatta is the weekend of March 24th-pencil it in and stay tuned for more information!!!
