  • Question and answer sessions for parents/guardians

The sport of rowing (also called crew) is about a team of athletes working to propel 8, 4, or 2 oared boats as a single unified crew. If you value team work and cooperation above individual stardom, crew may be just the sport for you.

Athletes who row develop upper and lower body strength, plus plenty of endurance. Rowers also develop agility, grace, and the ability to get perfectly in sync with their crew.

Established in 1988, SARC currently hosts over 100 rowers from 8th to 12th grade and draws talent from private and public schools in Cobb, Dekalb, Gwinnett, Forsyth, and Fulton counties. SARC’s successes include medals from the USRowing Southeastern Championship and being the only Georgia team to medal at the USRowing Youth National Championship.

The discipline and skills learned by our athletes have contributed to them attending, and in many cases rowing at colleges that include Brown, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Harvard, Ithaca, Jacksonville University, Princeton, Trinity College, University of Georgia, University of Tennessee, University of Texas, University of Virginia, UCLA and more.

Have you ever wanted to row in one of those long, sleek racing shells? Then here's your chance. Do something new and exciting with your summer vacation. Get on the water and learn to row.

Camp Focus The program provides all the necessary experiences to get you familiar with what the great sport of rowing is all about. The week includes: fundamentals of safety, rowing technique, ergometer use, boat handling, commands, and on-water coaching, including video review of you and your boatmates.
