2008 Row for the Cure
Thanks for a great Row for the Cure! Once again, SA has demonstrated our commitment to give back to our community. The weather was perfect, the all-day picnic kept food flowing for rowers and families; and as of Sept 20, SA raised $19,308 with proceeds benefiting the Greater Atlanta affiliate of Komen for the Cure! This total was 96.5% of our goal and exceeded the $15,557 raised in 2007.
In case you missed her, a surprise guest at the river was Lindsay Shoop from the 2008 Olympic gold medal winning Womens 8+. Lindsay rowed at the University of Virginia with AJRA coach Julie. She started rowing a short 6 years ago, and she will continue to train with the US National Team. It was a great opportunity for all of us to see an olympic gold medal up close and personal!
The four teams participating in the Row-a-thon on Saturday raised a total of $47,913 bringing the total raised for the Head of the Hooch to $49,635! This is as of Sept 20., and numbers will continue to rise until the Head of the Hooch on Nov. 1-2.
