2017 Summer Programs

Saint Andrew Rowing Club (SARC) is pleased to offer the 2017 Learn-To-Row (LTR) Summer Camps!   LTR summer camps are offered to rising 6th graders through 12th graders wishing to learn the sport of rowing or improve their existing knowledge and skills in this majestic sport.  SARC LTR camps are one week long, with options to participate in the morning, evening, or all day sessions.  We highly recommend that your athletes sign up for more than one week to gain a greater understanding and appreciation of the wonderful world of rowing, and learn what crew is all about.

Our experienced coaching staff and seasoned athlete-volunteers make our LTR experience like none other. You will learn about the sport through hands on experience in eight and four-man rowing shells. Campers learn rowing safety, boat handling, terminology, and beginner-advanced rowing technique all while enjoying the beautiful Chattahoochee River. Additionally, our LTR offers the most continuous time on the water of any rowing camp in the Metro Atlanta Area and is an excellent preparation for those who may wish to join one of our squads in the Fall!

Checks should be made out to St. Andrew Rowing Club LTR and given to the Coach on the first day of camp.   AM Sessions and PM Sessions are $150.00 per week.  All Day Sessions are $250.00 per week.

We also offer a follow-up Intro to Rowing II Camp, which is a two week morning camp for those who

have completed the Intro to Rowing or have previously rowed one season.  The sessions last two weeks and are Monday-Friday AM.  One two-week session is $250.00.

Learn To Row Summer Camp (Morning or Afternoon)

Our Learn To Row (LTR) summer program is an introductory, non-competitive program where kids ages 12-18 can try the sport in a fun and safe environment.  They will learn rowing  terminology, how to handle the equipment and learn a basic set of skills, which a rower can choose to continue to develop in our Rowing or Sculling programs (visit Programs tab for more info).  LTR meets 5 times per week and athletes of all different athletic backgrounds are encouraged to participate.

We highly recommend that the participant sign up for multiple sessions-not only to see what crew is all about, but also to develop and reinforce the skills learned.  This is especially helpful for those who may wish to join one of our squads in the Fall!

Skill levels are as follows:

  • Novice:  Has never rowed before.
  • Intermediate:  Rowed in Novice camp and wish additional instruction.
  • Advanced:  Rowed in past camps and/or in an intemediate level camp.
