Coach Jason Berric - Women's Head Coach

Coach Jason Berric - SA Women's Head Coach

Coach Jason is a product of the Winter Park rowing program as both a rower and coach. He rowed at Winter Park for two years, before attending North Carolina State University where he coached Men’s and Women’s crew for three years. Upon moving back to Florida, Jason returned to the Winter Park rowing program where he was the Freshman Girls' coach for two seasons. He led the freshman to the 2008 State Championship title and finished fifth at the Stotesbury Cup Regatta.

Jason joined Lake Brantley Rowing Association in 2009, and brought his successes to the girls’ program. In 2011, the Junior 8+ earned the program's first Stotesbury Cup medal and National Championship medal in the 8+, claiming silver at both. His girls were the 2012 Florida State Scholastic Champions, winning the Varsity 8+ and Lightweight 8+ titles. In 2013, the Junior 8+ earned a bronze medal at Stotesbury.

In 2014, as the head coach for the North Orlando Rowing squad, the girls' varsity 4+ became the first State Champion in program history. Four boats medaled at Southeast Regionals, with the girls’ pair finishing 7th at Youth Nationals.

Since joining the staff at St. Andrew in Fall 2014, the women have qualified a 4x in 2015, a 2x in 2016, and the Varsity 8+ in 2018 and 2019 for Youth Nationals. Additionally, he helped guide SA to an all-time team best at the 2018 Head of the Hooch, where SA took home the points trophy. At Hooch, the women had an all-time highest finish in the Women’s 8+, taking silver, won the Women’s 4+ for the first time since 2004, finished 3rd in the Women’s Light 8+, and won the Women’s Light 4+.

Coach Erin Hayes, a SARC alum, began coaching the women’s team in Fall 2018, working primarily with the Novice Women. Erin was a rower and coxswain for SARC from 2008-2014, where she raced in the Varsity 4+ at Youth Nationals in 2012. Afterward, she spent four years as a coxswain at the University of Alabama, Roll Tide! At UA, Erin was a member of one of the first boats in program history to receive a medal at the Big 12 Conference Championships, was a 4-time member of the All-SEC Academic Honor Roll, and gained racing experience across the country. In addition to coaching, Erin is also a preschool teacher.
